camp nanowrimo april 2014, editor, nanowrimo, national novel writing month, star wars, star wars week
Hello, everyone!
Well, I survived Nanowrimo! *clapping and cheering* I won! I wrote my first 70k novel. Though it only contributed to the massive 100k-and-growing one… *cue laugh track*
Now comes the hard work: editing. Even though Obi-Wan suffers through it with me, it really doesn’t make it that much more tolerable. *sigh* I wrote a lot of fun stuff this camp, but it wasn’t necessarily in the right order, so… yeah. I need to work on editing and/or ordering things right.
I will continue work on Bound to the Flame now, however. And don’t worry–I will try to get more done on Battlefield of the Soul. No promises, though, on what time I will have it out. I will try to have some out next week or the week after…
And that brings me to my next point.
In celebration of Star Wars, the week of May 4 is hereby declared Star Wars Week on The Upstairs Archives! There will be something from Star Wars every day of the week, and hopefully something to satisfy all tastes, whether you be Star Wars geek, casual fan, or even the rare person who has never seen Star Wars. I may try my hand at some poetry, but what I mainly hope to do is to get the Shifting Tides series back on its feet.
Also, Professor V.J. Duke has suggested that I do some sort of celebration when I get 100 follows on my blog, not to mention the 1-year anniversary (which is in August.) So I put the question to you, my dear readers: What sort of celebration would you like?
So that’s all the news for today, people. Thanks for reading, and God Bless!

Wow! Well done! I think we should have an online tea party, or maybe we could all post pictures of us doing something new or exciting involving the number 100?
erinkenobi2893 said:
Hmmm… sounds like a good idea! I especially like the online tea party bit! š
shortstoriesbyanon said:
Lovely! I always love a good tea party!
erinkenobi2893 said:
So do I… when it doesn’t involve my youngest sister trying to destroy the adorable child-sized tea set we found. It’s actual ceramic, so it’s practically an heirloom, being such a rare occurrence in this day and age!
shortstoriesbyanon said:
Haha, oh no! Keep it far away from her! I can’t believe you have an actual ceramic one!

We found it at an education place, which is about the only place you can find good old-fashioned toys any more. Cheap plastic consumerism. Ew.
Well, as long as we watch her while she’s using it… she’s a bit too enamored of using it, though. I like tea parties, but I also like tea with a friend in the less-fancy mugs, just to wind down and spend time together. š

May 4th be with you! Sorry š Congrats on the writing camp, sounds like you worked very hard. Best of luck with the editing (ugh, editing!)
The Professor is right, some kind of celebration should be in order š

Thanks. š I’m contemplating sending the cutesy anime incarnations of Anakin and Obi-Wan Star Wars e-card to Dad, in revenge for his bad Star Wars jokes. (You can find the ecards on starwars.com. š )
I agree, editing is annoying š But I guess it’s not so bad after all… as long as I actually get it done. *sigh*
š That’s what the poll is for. I can’t decide what to do. I’ve had a suggestion for a virtual tea party… how would one conduct such a thing? š
PorterGirl said:
Hmm virtual tea party? Sounds great but how would you go about it? Let’s see… I suppose you could arrange for everyone to ‘meet’ at your blog at a specific time, and then chat through the comments section while drinking tea and eating cakes at our computer screens? Maybe?
erinkenobi2893 said:
Possibly. š Or I could write about the tea party and then we hold a virtual tea party in the comments..,
Oh, I should mention. The Professor’s and your blogs inspired me to tell the stories of how my stories came to be, and chronicle the comings and goings in what I like to call “my mind palace.” People you will see commonly are Mistress El’ye, the mostly senile and extremely lucky majorina domo, Merlin (as he appears in the BBC show named for him,) Arthur (from the same show), Sherlock, Dr. Watson, Rowan (from Bound to the Flame), the other members of the cast of Bound to the Flame, Gervaise (from “Unnamed”), etc. And of course Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Qui-Gon. How could I leave them out! š
PorterGirl said:
Love the tea party idea!! Superb. So delighted to have been of some small inspiration š That means so much. I will be checking out the mind palace!
erinkenobi2893 said:
š I can’t wait! It will probably be called “From the Archives of Selay’uu,” or something like that. “Selay’uu” is an ancient Shendi (my made-up language) word meaning “the people.” Which is effectively what my blog is about. š

Awesome!

*laughing* That’s funny, Lucy!

It’s my only joke. I only normally get to tell it once a year š

If you are ever wondering what MTFBWY stands for, it’s an acronym for “May the Force be with you.” Pretty common on forums with SW geeks. š
erinkenobi2893 said:
That’s why May the 4th is Star Wars day. X-P
And I’m glad the camp is over… I need to start on another project, though. I desperately need to keep on writing. š
Professor VJ Duke said:
Never heard it before, but it made me laugh!
I didn’t now MTFBWY stood for that eitherā¦what a wonder!
erinkenobi2893 said:
Indeed. š

Erin… just me being nitpicky, ignore at will, but must you post humorous memes derived from the absolute most devastating moments in the entire canon?
erinkenobi2893 said:
I’m sorry, I haven’t seen Revenge of the Sith yet, and it was the only one Mockingjay14 (Iris’ sister) could find of Obi-Wan looking totally horrified. (Neither could I for that matter. :-/)
coruscantbookshelf said:
But is gharsley!!! Was an utterly horrible moment.
Star Wars ecards… hehehe.
erinkenobi2893 said:
I know. I’m sorry. I’m trying to find a better picture (one from the Clone Wars, if possible) to use. But the filters on Google OBVIOUSLY do not work! Grrr!
Yup. SW ecards. I think I’ll go send you one early. š
Professor VJ Duke said:
Nice! Congrats! I’d love to see some excerpts from your novels! Interviewing bloggers would be coolio too.
erinkenobi2893 said:
š I’ll have to see what I can do. š
