I work at Sam’s Club now. One of the advantages is that I know a bunch of the special offers and such.
Like pomegranates.
I had never seen pomegranates at any sort of store before, so you bet I was intrigued! I asked my dad to buy some, and he did.
I had to go online to figure out how to seed the daft thing. It was a very sticky business, but the seeds were good. But there were a lot of them. At least two cups or so, and all this from one little pomegranate!
So I thought, hey, there’s yogurt in the fridge, why not make a smoothie?
Strawberry-Pomegranate Smoothies
Seeds of 1 pomegranate
1 cup yogurt
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
Basically what I did was to blend the pomegranate seeds with the yogurt until it was all incorporated, then add the strawberries. I don’t know if pomegranates are “in season” but you might not have to sweeten it, or not sweeten it as much–this also depends on what kind of yogurt you use (I used plain yogurt. Vanilla yogurt is much sweeter.)
Anyway, so now if you have a pomegranate on your hands and are not quite sure how to eat it, you know what to do! 😉
Thanks for reading, and God Bless!
We love pomegranates at our house- some of us more than others. They have to be the really sweet, juicy ones for me to get excited about, but my mom especially loves them.
BTW, how do you like working at Sam’s Club? Is it better or worse than Dairy Queen?
Well, the hours are more flexible. I still hate hot dogs. But this is probably pretty much the only place that could still hire me despite the hours I’ll be able to work next semester. The pay is better, and I get along well with my coworkers (except for the one person who seems like a constant scheduling error–I just have this slightly-uncomfortable feeling about her. Which could just be caused by the fact that she’s just a little too familiar for me too soon. I have to have a little while to accept people, you know?)
Cool! Never really thought about putting pomegranates in a smoothie before. We usually eat them outside at Sukkot. The little guys always spit out the seeds and the mess is unbelievable. 😛
Congrats on the new job, too! 🙂
They’re pretty yummy–but instead of staining my fingers cherry my fingers got stained green somehow. Weird. 😛
Thank you! 😀 I’ve had it about a month and it’s a bit better atmosphere than my other workplace. The overall philosophy here is ACCEPT THE CRAZY Because It’s The Only Sane THing To Do. 😛 Also, I have a coworker who is as big a geek as I am and I have Other Things to discuss with my other coworkers and I feel comfortable around most of them, so win!
Hold on, I’m going to post a thing that will break everyone’s hearts.
That is weird. Maybe it’s the effect of pomegranate juice on time lords. 😉
Cool! That sounds great. 😀 I remember a friend who said she would always toss Princess Bride references around with her co-workers. Like saying good bye: “Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.” XD
You could be right, my dear. ;-P
I’ve always wanted to say that to someone. But never could at my old job. One of the people who works at the same club as I do is actually named Allonso, and whenever I see him I remark quietly, “Allons-y, Allonso!” X-P
Haha! XD that’s the perfect person to say it to!
Exactly. X-D
